Cole is originally from Victoria. Cole completed a hairdressing apprenticeship there, where Cole was fortunate enough to learn from some extremely talented trainers in all aspects of hairdressing including becoming classically trained in barbering (which is handy now that; it’s making such a big comeback!).

Cole loves to being able to do everything from colour work, ladies and men's cuts, braiding, formal events and most things in between but Cole says, 'Styling is now one of my biggest passions. I love doing weddings and often ill collaborate with other artists such as photographers and makeup artists or fashion designers etc.'

Cole moved to Adelaide in 2010. Cole says, 'I had no intentions of staying in Adelaide, however, fell in love with this beautiful city!'

Cole was living within the Western suburbs of Adelaide but working in the East and after 2 years Cole decided, 'I wanted to work in the western suburbs too! I found a job in a beautiful and successful family owned hair salon and loved every minute there.'

Ever since Cole can remember; 'I’ve wanted to be a hairdresser and own my own salon, so after 5 years of working in west Adelaide growing my skills and clientele, having the opportunities like training staff, competing in competitions and working on events like fashion week and various photo shoots, it was on my honeymoon in Europe (with some encouragement from my now business partners and my husband!) I was inspired to take the leap into the world of small business.'

Cole remembers, 'It was a really scary move to make, not only because opening a small business is a big risk but it was with a heavy heart that I resigned from my job, my boss and the staff had become family to me.'

'When I signed the lease it all went very quickly, we had a lot of work to do. With lots of help from my sister and brother in law, plus a few friends and my business partners.

We gutted the place, knocked down some walls built some new ones and the result is a beautifully warm, relaxed and vibrant space with personal touches throughout...'

'The salon name “Coil” is a merge of my name Colleen and my husbands name. I wanted something short, unisex and strong. I had been thinking of this name before I even really considered opening my own salon, I guess I knew I’d always do it at some stage.'

The salon is predominantly hair services but we have recently introduced their beautiful therapist Bonnie with over 20 years experience in most aspects of beauty services and Rechelle who is specialising in eyelash extensions.

Cole says, 'I have been so lucky to have had a dream start as the business opened. I have had so much support from my amazing clientele and was quickly busy enough to employ the gorgeous Alexia. This girl is the dream employee. She was also a past client of mine when she was still at high school and had developed into a talented and passionate hairdresser.'

'My absolute favourite thing about this industry is that we have the opportunity to meet people from all different aspects of life.'

'I love hearing about our clients journeys but most of all I love to have the skills to change the way people feel about their hair.'

'That’s what our slogan “Imagine-Create-Inspire” means.'

'Basically to have the imagination to create change that inspires. We try our best to make sure each and every client feels special.'

Whether it’s a huge change or something simple.

Everybody deserves that.
